Tucson, AZ – March 7, 2025 – Food lovers and cultural enthusiasts alike, prepare for an unparalleled experience at Sabores de Tucson: America’s Best Mexican Food Festival, set to take place on Friday, May 2, 2025, at the Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa. This festival promises a vibrant celebration of Mexican culinary traditions, featuring more than 30 renowned local chefs and purveyors, live music, artisan vendors, and immersive cultural experiences that bring the essence of Mexico to life.

An Immersive Celebration of Mexican Cuisine and Culture

Hosted by the Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance (SAACA) in collaboration with Tucson Foodie and the Tucson International Mariachi Conference, Sabores de Tucson is designed to highlight the rich and diverse food heritage of Mexico. Attendees will embark on a culinary journey across the country’s distinct regions, indulging in flavors from Northern Mexico, Central Mexico, the Pacific Coast, and the Yucatán Peninsula. Each station will showcase authentic dishes paired with traditional music and artisan craft vendors, offering an immersive sensory experience.

"Tucson’s Mexican food traditions run deep, and this festival is a chance to celebrate that in a way that goes beyond just eating—we’re telling the stories, honoring the artistry, and bringing the flavors of Mexico to life through an immersive experience," said Kate Marquez, Executive Director of SAACA. "With live music, visual art, and incredible culinary talent, this event is truly a sensory journey through Mexico."

A Culinary Journey Through Mexico

Each regional hub will feature signature flavors and ingredients from Mexico’s diverse food landscapes:

  • Northern Mexico – Known for its grilled meats, flour tortillas, and seafood, with specialties like carne asada, burritos, and fish tacos.

  • Central Mexico – The birthplace of tacos al pastor, mole poblano, and barbacoa, celebrated for its rich sauces and indigenous corn-based dishes.

  • Pacific Coast – A coastal paradise famous for ceviche, aguachile, and slow-cooked birria, emphasizing fresh seafood and bold flavors.

  • Southern Mexico & Yucatán Peninsula – A region steeped in indigenous traditions and tropical influences, featuring cochinita pibil, tlayudas, and mole negro.

"People travel here just for the food, and we've already been identified as a culinary destination as the first UNESCO City of Gastronomy in the U.S.," said Felipe Garcia, President and CEO of Visit Tucson. "This event is the perfect way to celebrate our close ties to Mexico and showcase the authenticity of our region's food scene."
